What TMS is cleared to treat

FDA-CLEARED Insurance-covered

Depression

Major depressive disorder

Low mood that won't lift, losing interest in things that used to matter, and changes in sleep, energy or appetite. TMS is FDA-cleared for depression and it's the bulk of what we do, particularly for people whose antidepressants have helped but not enough, or whose side effects have been hard to live with.

FDA-CLEARED Minimal insurance coverage

OCD

Obsessive-compulsive disorder

Intrusive, unwanted thoughts and the compulsions that build up around keeping them quiet. TMS is FDA-cleared as an adjunct to OCD treatment, meaning it's used alongside your existing care rather than replacing it.

TREATMENTS

Evaluated individually

Our other conditions

These aren't FDA-cleared uses of TMS, so we won't promise anything. For some people they're worth talking through at an evaluation.

Off-label

Perinatal/Postpartum

Depression and Anxiety

Low mood, worry or not feeling like yourself during pregnancy or after birth. TMS is a non-medication approach that can provide support for mood changes during this time, and whether it's right for you is something we'd look at individually.

Off-label

Anxiety

Persistent worry and tension that's hard to switch off, often with physical symptoms like a racing heart or restlessness. Often treated alongside depression; for anxiety on its own, whether TMS is appropriate is a case-by-case call your clinician makes with you.

Off-label

PTSD

Intrusive memories, staying on high alert, and avoiding reminders of what happened. It's an off-label use of TMS, and something to talk through honestly at an evaluation rather than assume.

Questions

What people ask before they call

  • What if my condition isn't listed here?

Ask us. We'll tell you honestly whether TMS is worth considering for your situation, or point you toward something that fits better.

  • Is TMS covered by insurance?

For the standard depression treatment, yes, most major Vermont payers cover it, and we're in-network. Coverage for other conditions varies, so we check your specific benefits before anything starts.

  • How do I find out if I'm a candidate?

A full clinical evaluation with Dr. Jada Turco-Khosla, MD or Dr. Maya Carlet, DNP confirms whether TMS is appropriate and safe for you. We screen carefully first, and if it isn't the right treatment, we'll tell you.
